Gabby turned 6 months yesterday, and we're a little bit in shock. Has it really already been half of a year?
Anyway, here are some updates on what our little one has been up to!
On her 6-month birthday, Gabriella Claire:
- weighed 16lbs 12oz
- was 26" long
- was declared "incredibly strong" by her doctor at her 6-month checkup. This seems to be the general consensus of every health care professional that we've had cause to visit since she was born. Her Daddy even thinks that "she could probably bench-press a 3-month old" :)
- can almost roll over on purpose
- likes sitting up to play, and can go for longer stretches by herself without toppling :)
- can somehow scoot to face different directions if you put her on her tummy. I haven't seen her do it, but I do know that I can put her on the floor on her tummy facing one direction, get distracted for a few minutes, and when I look again, she has done a complete 180.
- is fascinated by her toes
- likes stretching her arms straight out to either side
- is easily distracted by her hands. She will have her arms stretched out, and will turn and catch sight of her beautiful little hand, and will be mesmerized for the next several minutes, turning her hands this way and that, and waving her fingers around.
- has begun solids; she does NOT like rice cereal
but she loves bananas and sweet potatoes.
and she'll tolerate carrots and cauliflower, but is not a fan of peas. Mommy makes all of her food and freezes cubes of it. we might try chicken and garlic tomorrow :)
- she also loves her sippy cup, but is still a boob-girl.
- CAN sleep through the night, but sometimes still wants to nurse at 1am. Then she doesn't usually wake up until about 8.
- will only fall asleep nursing or being rocked around in her car seat. Driving works, but her swing does not. We're hoping she'll grow out of this...
- loves her toys. and ANYTHING is a toy.
- loves her jolly jumper
- loves her bathtime, loves the splashing, loves her new bathtub toys
- loves to squeal. I think she thinks she's singing.
- loves to babble.
- is still pretty mommy-clingy, but she also thinks the Daddy is pretty cool.
- she likes it best when Daddy has shaved and his face is smooth.
Here's one from Paul's Birthday
- loves it when mommy sings to her.
- has begun imitating sounds more and more. The other night I was trying to "shush" her to sleep, and she smiled up at me and went "ttphhhtthh!" and when her Daddy was playing with her and growling "ah-boo!" she said it back to him a few times in a row!
- is still a very happy, smiley, laughey baby.
- still has blue eyes and curly hair
- finally almost fits that sparkly dress from her Korean grandma that has been hanging up as a decoration in her room, and wore it for her first Easter. with matching bow, and white patent-leather shoes from Auntie Erica.
Happy half B-day Gabby! So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh Wow Julie, she really looks adorable, I know I say this all the time, but it is true, she is very cute, is daddy getting ready for the boyfriends someday? Wyatt started kickboxing shortly after Maija turned one, hehehehe!
