I cannot believe that the last time I blogged was about somebody else's {very very adorable} baby, back in the summer! Not only has it snowed since then, but it has snowed AND melted. (which makes me incredibly happy)
I've been called as 2nd Counsellor in the primary at church, which is a really fun calling :) I work with awesome people and get to be involved in lots of cool stuff. Also, before I got called, I had volunteered to be the Props & Costumes Lead at Gabby's elementary school. So; busy busy! FUN and loving all of the things I get to be involved in, but pretty busy. Cuz, still a momma of 3 busy little girls, and running a music studio. I feel pretty grateful for my life.
I'm making myself a little list, and now that I've put this list on the internet, I need to do some back-blogging and linking to the following:
- Millie's First Birthday
- Lydia's 4th Birthday
- the girls' First Days of School
- Gabby's 6th Birthday
- We celebrated our 10 year anniversary
- Halloween
- Girls in their Christmas dresses with Santa (happening this week ;) )
- Other random house renos
- Other photo shoots :)
- and while I'm at it - Christmas 2014 ;)
In the meantime, I'm working on sorting my pictures. And organizing my house. We've been here almost a year, and slowly everything is going through the cycle of dump-tidy-clean-organize-addasystem-clean-maintain... my hope is that, eventually, this house will feel done, and I can sit and waste a day reading a book without remembering That Mess somewhere in my home.
Yup, Dreaming Big...
But, look! I have some pictures already sorted! (from my phone, from yesterday - the quality isn't great, but they are still fun) Here you go!
Yesterday morning was the first Saturday we've had in awhile that wasn't scheduled full of stuff. The girls and I had A Moment. We all squished together in Great-Grandpa Bohne's brown armchair with just the Christmas tree lights on and cuddled. Then we decided we needed to take some selfies. They are pretty stellar.
Eventually, we all got dressed and moving. :D This project sat on my To Do list for about 3 months before I finally had a free Saturday to do it. I've got a Before-before picture somewhere, but it is in my big file folder entitled "Photos to Sort" on my desktop...
Oh! Speaking of! A friend of mine posted this thing on FB about organizing your desktop... it was brilliant. So I made my own. Here is what my desktop currently looks like, isn't it so clean?! I love it!
Anyway, So, 3 months ago I bought these 12"cube bins at Dollarama (my fave store ever) and started organizing... that was 3 months ago, and it ended up looking like this:
See all that wasted wall space? Drove me nuts. So I pulled out the existing shelf and pranced myself over to our local Home Depot to get a matching shelf. And replacement parts for the wrecked hardware that I had to pull out of the wall. Just under $50, which I figured wasn't bad for a room-reno!
Lydia came with me, and she was adorable. I had to explain that Home Depot, which in her books is currently a "Boring Store", will someday probably be HER favorite store too. HD went up a few notches when she got to come home with kinder surprises for herself and her big sister.
Before we left for Home Depot, I patched the wall so it could dry while we were gone:
After we got back, I put the old shelf up higher while I waited for the patching to finish drying:
Sanded & Painted the wall. And then took a picture with me in it. Oops! I mean, Hi!
After it all dried, I put up the second shelf, and put all my stuff back. But look how much more room there is now! Yay! And it all got done in less than a day, best project ever! (except for the part where, I need to make prettier labels for those bins!)
'til next time :) Prolly 6 months from now, but hopefully sooner! :)
