On Sunday, Gabby wore an outfit with a matching hat, and fell asleep on the way home... our little floral thug...
We set up Gabby's new crib today! Or rather, Paul set it up, and Gabby and I "helped". :) She's been sleeping in the bassinette part of her pack'n'play, but that's only good until 15lbs, which I'm sure she's reached (she was 14lbs 10oz at her 4month checkup) and so we ordered a crib last week, and it arrived yesterday! Paul and his dad picked it up and hauled it up the 3 flights of stairs, and tonight is the first night Gabby gets to sleep in it :)
I've gotten a few requests to show what the nursery looks like... just know that I still have lots of plans, but here is a start:
The glider we bought second-hand. It turns out that to order a white glider/ottoman is a small fortune, but I found this one in the bargain finder, and it was only $50! Perfect condition, doesn't make a sound when it rocks, and we loved it. We ordered an ottoman to match it, and Gwamma offered to pay for the re-covering, so the micro-suede on the glider and ottoman almost exactly match the color on the walls. It was a fun project :)
The basket on the right full of blankets was a proud moment for me - I looked everywhere for a basket like that, and I finally got just a plain wicker basket with a really ugly liner at Michael's (40%off) and spray-painted the basket itself, and made a new, floral, pink liner out of some cotton fabric that I picked up for free at a garage sale a few years ago.
The quilt on the glider was made by Great-Grandma Clara. The dress is from my mom. Suffice it to say, everything on that shelf has some sort of sentimental value. That's how I tend to decorate, which is why it takes so long :D
Gabby in her new bed! She's been doing tummy crunches for at least a month now... she's got better abs than Mommy!
Yup. She's standing up in her bed. It lasted about 5 seconds before she leaned forward on the rail, but doesn't she just look so big?!?
This one's just cute :)
As I was brushing my teeth tonight, I could hear laughter, and when I snuck back into Gabby's room, Paul was leaning over her in her crib, and she was laughing up at him and grabbing his face! It was the most endearing thing ever. She's just started grabbing at things, but she hadn't used her hands to grab US yet. I cried a little bit. It was one of those tender moments where I just thought "I totally married the right guy. I picked the right Daddy for my babies." Paul, of course, teased me for being such a sap, but there it is :)
I LOVE THE CRIB!!!!!!! What a beautiful job you've done with the nursery Jules. I wish I had your creative touch. Great job mommy. Kisses to Gabby who looks super cute in those pics. Like we expect anything less. :D
