On thinking about what to post, I'm realizing just how simple and almost mundane my life really is! I do read a lot though, and one of my friends has been posting about the books that she's finished this year - ingenious :)
So that is what y'all can expect from me now :) I need to catch up, so here goes: For Christmas, I got Orson Scott Card's "Women of the Bible" books:

I loved all of these books! They're so well-written, and imaginative, and going back and reading the actual stories in the Bible, I started noticing more, and maybe even understanding a little bit more.
After that, my sister-in-law, Erica, lent me a book called "Twilight", and when I finally started reading it, I couldn't put it down. In fact, when I did finish it the next day, I went to the bookstore and bought it, along with the next two books in the series. Which, by the way, is unheard of for me - I am a huge fan of the library and the garage-sale books, - I rarely pay full price for a book!
I finished the entire set over the next 2 days, and then re-read the whole thing a week later. And then I got my husband to read them :)

After I read through these books a second time, my friend Seraph told me about the author's website: http://stepheniemeyer.com/
which is one of the coolest websites ever and full of outtakes and extras from the author - be careful not to read too much before you've read the books though, because it'll give everything away!
After all of this though, I dropped into a pit of despair of what to read next that could possibly hold my attention as well! So I put out a call on Facebook for reading suggestions, and my friend Jenny suggested a trilogy by Garth Nix:

Huh. That's a lot of trilogies :) This one was way more sci-fi than I usually would have ever picked myself, but I got drawn into it, and ended up really liking it!
Anyway, time to step away from the computer!
If anybody ever has a good read, please share!

I'd love to read those women of the Bible books. Would you lend them to me?
ReplyDeletesorry, I just lent them out! they're stocked at the LDS bookstore though, and they're like, $7 apiece. :) happy reading!
ReplyDeleteWoody is angry at me for reading the Twilight books, because Edward now owns my soul! LOL
ReplyDeleteLol at Launey's comment. I just borrowed the Sarah book from Leah-she has SOOO many LDS books-it's great. She's our private bookstore. You could try the Anita Stansfield Barrington family chronicles-they're quite good-there are 4 total. I don't think Leah would mind if you borrowed them-Let me know if you're interested! E
